My Story

UPDATE: I did it! I ran 1.22.59! Very chuffed. It was very hard, but at least the first half (of the half) was quite fun! The hill at the end is very horrible! Thankyou so much to everyone who hass generously sponsored me - it was great motivation and will make a real difference!

If you know me, you know I love running!

You might also know that I am passionate about helping others to change their story. That's why we support Genesis Trust and Julian House, the charities in Bath and Bristol who help people who have fallen on tough times to rebuild and transform their lives. I'm running the Bath Half on 17th March to hopefully persuade you to support Genesis Trust too!

Sponsorship is a funny thing. The premise is - I'll put myself through something painful / horrible and in return I hope you will give some money to support some people in life who really need your help! Still, I guess the model works!

In their words, the Genesis Trust "offers immediate practical help with food, clothing and furniture, as well as long-term opportunities, training and work experience". They "support people on their journey from crisis to independence, from despair to hope."

And in my words: "These guys work alongside those who, for a whole range of different reasons have found themselves in a difficult, or even horrible place. They provide for their immediate needs, and then stand alongside them emotionally and practically, metaphorically and physically, as they help them rebuild their life, transform their story and go on to do great things!"

You can read some of the stories of lives changed on their website, link below.

I'll confess that running the half distance is not a massive challenge for me like it might be for someone who isn't as obsessed with running. So... to ensure you still think I'm worthy of your money, I'm gonna run it as fast as I can. My current record is 1.23 and I really want to beat that. I have been training very hard but also balancing that with some problems with my calves... so not feeling too confident at the moment, but hopefully it will call come together! It's going to be hard and painful, I assure you - in case that sways your generosity! Certainly your generosity will sway my performance!

Thanks for reading this far... Please sponsor me? Give me some motivation to push myself as hard as I can round Bath...!

And in case you needed any more reasons to part with your cash, here's a joke to cheer your day:

Why did the half marathon runner end up in jail?
For resisting a rest.
